Mechanical Engineering & Machine Design
Trang Imagineering provides practical mechanical engineering, machine design and industrial equipment engineering services for mining, manufacturing, agriculture and industrial clients across Regional NSW and Australia.
Based in Orange NSW, our mechanical engineers work on everything from new machinery and bespoke equipment through to modifications, upgrades and engineering verification of existing plant.
Our focus is straightforward: develop mechanical solutions that can be built, installed, operated and maintained in the real world.
Whether you need a new machine designed from concept, an existing piece of equipment modified, or an engineering assessment of plant already in service, Trang can provide the mechanical design, analysis and documentation required to take the project forward.

Machine Design & Industrial Equipment Engineering
Designing machinery involves considerably more than producing a 3D CAD model.
A successful machine must perform its intended function while remaining practical to manufacture, assemble, transport, install, operate and maintain.
Trang provides machine design and machinery engineering services for new and existing equipment across mining, agriculture, manufacturing and heavy industry.
Our engineers can develop a project from an initial idea or operating requirement through concept development, mechanical design, engineering analysis and detailed fabrication drawings.
Typical projects include:
Custom industrial machinery
Production and processing equipment
Agricultural machinery
Mining and materials-handling equipment
Jigs and fixtures
Mechanical handling systems
Fabricated mechanical assemblies
Hydraulic equipment
Equipment frames and skids
Prototype and specialised machinery
Where appropriate, designs can also incorporate commercially available bearings, gearboxes, motors, actuators, hydraulic components and other OEM equipment to reduce manufacturing cost and simplify future maintenance.
Mechanical Design – From Concept to Fabrication
Trang can support the complete mechanical design process.
Concept & Preliminary Design: Early-stage engineering allows different concepts to be investigated before significant time and money are committed to detailed design. We can develop preliminary layouts and 3D models to establish equipment geometry, operating principles, loads, interfaces, access requirements and manufacturing constraints.
Detailed Mechanical Design: Once the concept is established, our engineers develop the machinery and equipment into a complete mechanical design. This can include component selection, materials, mechanical connections, welded assemblies, bearings, shafts, hydraulic systems, equipment interfaces, tolerances and other details required for manufacture and operation.
Engineering Analysis & FEA: Where equipment is subjected to significant loads, vibration, fatigue or unusual operating conditions, Trang can undertake engineering calculations and Finite Element Analysis (FEA) to assess its performance. Analysis can be used to identify highly stressed areas, investigate failures, optimise components and verify that the final design has suitable strength and stiffness.
Fabrication & Workshop Drawings: Engineering ultimately needs to become something that can be built. Trang produces detailed fabrication and workshop drawings directly from the engineering design, helping maintain continuity between the calculations, 3D model and final manufactured equipment.
Existing Machinery Modifications & Upgrades: Not every engineering project starts with a blank sheet of paper. A significant part of our work involves existing machinery, plant and equipment that needs to be modified, repaired, upgraded or adapted for a new purpose. Trang can assist with:
Machinery modifications
Capacity and performance upgrades
Replacement or redesign of obsolete components
Equipment extensions and alterations
Structural and mechanical strengthening
Hydraulic system modifications
Machinery guarding
Access and maintenance improvements
Failure investigations
Repair designs
Reverse engineering
Compliance assessments
Engineering verification and certification
This capability is particularly valuable in operational mining and industrial environments where the original drawings may be incomplete, outdated or simply no longer exist.
3D Laser Scanning & Brownfield Mechanical Design: Modifying existing plant creates an additional challenge: the new equipment has to fit what is actually on site. Trang combines mechanical engineering with 3D laser scanning and digital plant modelling to accurately capture existing machinery, structures, pipework and surrounding infrastructure. The resulting point-cloud data can be incorporated into our engineering models, allowing new equipment to be designed around existing conditions.
This can significantly reduce reliance on manual measurements and helps identify spatial constraints and potential clashes before equipment reaches site.
Product Development & Engineering R&D: Trang also has extensive experience developing new products, machinery and engineering technology. We work with businesses, equipment manufacturers and innovators to turn an initial concept or operating problem into a practical engineered solution. Depending on the project, this can include:
Concept development
Engineering research and investigation
Prototype design
Mechanical and structural design
CAD modelling
Design calculations
Finite Element Analysis
Material and component selection
Design for Manufacture (DFM)
Prototype testing and evaluation
Design optimisation
Production and fabrication drawings
Engineering R&D is rarely a straight-line process. New machinery often requires repeated cycles of designing, manufacturing, testing, measuring and improving. Our engineers can remain involved throughout this process, allowing lessons from testing and field operation to be incorporated into subsequent design iterations.
Mechanical & Structural Engineering Combined: Mechanical equipment rarely exists in isolation. Machinery may be mounted on a skid, supported by structural steel, installed on a platform, connected to a gantry or integrated into an existing processing plant. Trang's combined mechanical and structural engineering capability allows these interfaces to be considered as part of the overall design rather than treating the machine and its supporting structure as unrelated projects. Our engineers can assess mechanical loads and their effects on:
Equipment frames
Structural steelwork
Platforms and walkways
Support structures
Skids
Gantries
Existing plant structures
Mechanical connections and welded assemblies
This integrated approach is particularly useful for mining, manufacturing and industrial projects involving complex mechanical and structural interfaces.
